Do Any Supplements Actually Work?

Despite what all the flashy adds may claim, most supplements are a waste of money and time. Even worse, some can damage your health. The good news is that some of them do work.

The bad news is that most people have no idea which ones work.

So here are 6 dietary supplements that are worth buying:

1. Caffeine tablets: Now if you are having ventis at Starbucks, caffeine tablets are probably not going to help here. You see, a venti can have up to 300 milligrams of caffeine. And I recommend taking no more than 50 milligrams of caffeine in tablet form before exercise.

2. Fish oil pills: Now the key here is to make sure the fish oil pills have high amounts of DHA. You want to get 1,000 milligrams of DHA per day for the best effects here. Also, never take more than 3 grams of fish oil per day because at this level you run the risk of damaging your heart.

3. A low dose multi vitamin: The key here is that it should be low dose. Most people take multi vitamins with way too many nutrients. And the issue here is that you can reach toxic levels very quickly. So go for moderation here.

4. Calcium chews: Preferably, they will have some added vitamin D in them. The key here, however, is that they be low dose. You see, both calcium and vitamin D can cause some serious damage when taken in high doses.

5. Powdered protein: Protein in powdered form, preferably whey protein, should only be consumed right after a workout. Do not buy into the notion that consuming lots of protein shakes per day will help you gain weight.

6. Powdered carbs: Carbs in powdered form are excellent after an intense workout that taxes your muscles. You see, powdered carbs are absorbed very quickly and this is exactly what you need right after a workout. After all, during this time period your muscles are really absorbent towards carbs.

Most supplements will be a waste of money and will give you no results. And even the supplements in this article are not going to change your body without any effort on your part.
